Late. Shri. N. P. Pandya was awarded ‘PADMA SHRI’ country’s most prestigious National Award for his dedicated, committed and exemplary social work for 46 years, in the rehabilitation of the visually impaired and prevention of blindness.
Dr.Col.( Retd.) Madan Deshpande,Chief Medical Director, H. V. Desai Eye Hospital was awarded– the prestigious ‘Outstanding Service in Prevention of Blindness Award’ by Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology(APAO) in recognition of individuals, who made scientific contributions to prevention of blindness in the Asia Pacific Region.

Training Programs & Skill Transfer

In addition to eye care, the hospital also conducts short-term and long-term fellowship programs that help practicing ophthalmologists upgrade their skills. Vasant underwent screening at a camp conducted by PBMA's H. V. Desai Eye Hospital in his district, with the support of Wonderworks & Vision. At the camp, he was diagnosed to have cataract in both eyes. The camp referred him for surgery for the same. Support from Wonderworks & Vision enabled Vasant to undergo cataract surgery free of cost at the PBMA's H. V. Desai Eye Hospital.
