Pune:Four new vision centres of the PBMA’s H.V. Desai Eye Hospital were inaugurated on 27 & 28 July 2022. The vision centres are at Bhor and Pimple Saudagar. These centres are supported by INGOs SEVA Foundation and CBM India.
Mr. Rajesh Shah, President PBMA, Mr. Parvez Bilimoria, Executive Director and Dr. G.V. Rao, CEO, PBMAs H.V. Desai Eye Hospital inaugurated the centres.
With these four new centres, the total number of such primary eye care centres run by H.V. Desai Eye Hospital will be 31 in nine districts of Maharashtra.
Inaugurating the centres, Mr. Rajesh Shah said, “With these primary eye care facilities, we bring basic eye care facilities to more people. Our centres will perform the role of providing the first point for basic eye examination.”
Mr. Parvez Billimoria urged the “people to make use of this well-equipped facility that is accessible.”
Dr. Rao said that such facilities to reach the unreached will make it possible to eliminate avoidable blindness.
Vision centres gain importance as being the first point of interface for delivering comprehensive eye care services in the community, especially in areas where a well-equipped eye hospital is not available.
All the vision centres run by H.V. Desai Eye Hospital are equipped with the latest equipment and are manned by skilled eye care workers and connected to the Base Hospital through teleophthalmology.
