Since the establishment of PBMA’s H.V.Desai Eye Hospital, the entire management has always encouraged its team of clinicians and health care professionals to conduct research. The team is proud of the more than 100 Scientific papers published in peer-reviewed National and International Medical Journals. A complete list of publications is available on our website and is being updated twice every year.
The hospital team in partnership with other medical research teams from different Institutions, Universities and even industry to conduct clinical research study projects related to eye care. A comprehensive list of completed and ongoing research projects is available on our website, and is being updated twice every year.
All proposal are first presented to the Scientific Committee of PBMA’s H.V.Desai Eye Hospital. The members review all the proposals in details, with detailed presentations by the team giving such proposals.

After seeking guidance from the senior members of the Scientific Committee, the proposals are then presented to the Institutional Ethics Committee.
The Institutional Ethics Committee of PBMA’s H. V. Desai Eye Hospital received NABH accreditation in September 2018.
Grant of Registration of Ethics Committee relating to Biomedical Health Research
National Ethics Committee Registry for Biomedical and Health Research, under the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India has registered and permits the “Institutional Ethics Committee of PBMA’s H. V. Desai Eye Hospital” under the registration no. EC/NEW/INST/2021/MH/0011 dated 15-Nov-2021.
The committee has been re-registered with Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) under rule 122DD of the Central Drug Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) re-registration number – ECR/234/Inst/MH/2013/RR-22 issued under New Drugs and Clinical Trials Rule, 2019 and the registration is valid till 27-Feb-2027.
