Wet-Lab trainings
PBMA’S H. V. Desai Eye Hospital is a comprehensive Eye Care training Institute with facility for quality eye care service and many skill transfer training programs. So far, we have trained more than 300 trainees in phacoemulsification. The CBM – H.V.Desai Eye Hospital Phaco training center with provisions and resources from Zeiss aims at training the budding surgeons in a well-equipped OT set up for Phaco surgeries and a highly sophisticated Wet lab facilities
Objective:
- To orient the trainee in Phaco microsurgery by the wet lab training.
- To enhance the trainee’s theoretical knowledge by observation and Phaco online lectures.
- Orient the trainee in different IOL calculating modalities.
Duration of Course: 3 Days
Education Qualification:
- A Resident post M.B.B.S enrolled in an institute for post-graduation.
- Ophthalmology PG degree MS / DOMS / DNB / MD
Course Fees: Rs. 10,000 + 18% GST
Sharing Accommodation Charges: Rs. 5000 per month + GST as applicable
Food expenses are separate and can be paid at the canteen on a monthly basis
Highlights of the Course:
Accesses to Cybersight phacoemulsification online course to enhance theoretical knowledge assisted with plethora of online surgical videos of simple as well as complicated cases. Well-equipped state of art wet lab facility with training on “KITARO” artificial eye balls.
For wet lab training which is one of our main highlight we have a Zeiss Lumera 300 microscope with side viewing attachment for the trainee observation and teaching purpose and internal recording system for the trainees to record their cases and then audit it with the trainer and the Zeiss Visalis 100 Phaco machine used exclusively for Wet lab training purpose.
- One to one trainee to trainer interaction
- Observing the senior surgeons performing surgeries through T.V. display and side microscope
- Training in A-scan biometry

Course Assessment: The assessment rubric used for:
- Wet lab training is ICO-OSSCAR (adapted from cyber sight platform of ORBIS)
- Detailed Wet Lab Learning Phaco program Step-by-Step
- Preparation of equipment
- Continuous Curvilinear Capsulorhexis
- Hydro-dissection & hydro-delineation
- Nucleus disassembly and Cortical cleanup
- IOL folding, insertion and positioning (for the last two cases optional at separate chargeable basis)
- Removal of viscoelastic
